Getting Started
What's Growing Green?
A three-app platform for small and mid-size farms: a Farmer App (your dashboard), a Market App (so customers can buy from you), and a Worker App (for your employees). All three share the same backend — clock-in events show up in payroll, harvests show up in inventory, sales hit the marketplace.
Which app do I need?
- Farmer App — the dashboard where you run your farm. Required if you're the operator.
- Market App — install only if you want a phone app for browsing and ordering. Customers find you here.
- Worker App — give to your employees so they can clock in, get tasks, and see pay stubs.
Do I need an iPhone?
No. The Farmer App is web-based and works on any browser — desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. The Market App and Worker App run on iPhone and Android, plus the web.
How long does setup take?
Most farmers are up and running in under 30 minutes. Add your farm location, your first inventory items, and you're ready. Bringing in existing data (a spreadsheet of inventory, a list of customers) is just paste-and-go.
Pricing & Billing
How much does it cost?
$24.99/month for the Farmer App. The Market and Worker apps are free.
What's the trial length?
30 days for all new sign-ups.
Do you charge transaction fees?
4% royalty on Stripe-processed marketplace sales, capped at $400/month per farm. Cash sales are tracked for bookkeeping but excluded from the royalty.
What happens to my royalty cap if my month is huge?
Once you hit $400 in royalties for the month, every additional sale is 0%. Your effective rate goes down as your volume goes up — the cap protects high-volume farmers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — from in-app Settings → Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You keep access until then.
Is the subscription tax deductible?
For U.S. business owners, software subscriptions are generally an ordinary business expense. Royalties on sales may also qualify as deductible costs. Check with your accountant for your specific situation.
Offline & Data
What if I lose internet in the field?
The apps are built offline-first. You keep working — log harvests, clock workers, take voice notes — and everything syncs automatically when you reconnect. No "waiting for connection" spinners.
Where is my data stored?
Supabase, hosted in the United States. Encrypted at rest, TLS in transit, with Row-Level Security policies that isolate every farm's data from every other farm.
Can I export my data?
Yes. CSV exports for inventory, harvests, sales, and expenses are available from the Farmer App's Settings → Data Export.
Who owns my data?
You do. Always.
What if Growing Green shuts down?
You'll get at least 60 days of advance notice and a full data export before service ends. Your business shouldn't depend on our existence.
The Marketplace
How does the marketplace work?
Customers find your farm in the Market App, browse what you have for sale, and pay through Stripe. Payouts go directly to your connected Stripe account. We charge a 4% platform fee on those sales (capped at $400/month).
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes — Stripe Connect, free to set up. We walk you through it during onboarding. Card payments couldn't function without it.
How fast do I get paid?
Stripe's standard 2-business-day payout schedule. The funds go straight from the customer's card to your bank — we never touch the money.
Can I sell to wholesale or restaurants?
B2B is on the roadmap as part of our upcoming Marketplace Pack (v1.5). Pricing tiers, invoicing, and recurring orders are coming.
Livestock
Can I track individual animals?
Yes — and herds/flocks as batches. The Livestock Pack supports both modes. Cattle by name, poultry by head count, switch as your operation requires.
Does it handle horses?
Equine is a planned expansion — boarding, lessons, ticket sales — but it's separate from the general Livestock Pack because the workflows are different. Watch for the Equine Pack on the roadmap.
Withdrawal periods for medications?
Yes. When you log a treatment, the withdrawal period is set automatically based on the medication. The store will warn you before listing any product affected by an active withdrawal.
Workers & Employees
How many workers can I add?
Unlimited.
Can workers see everything?
No. Workers only see what you assign — their tasks, their time, their pay stubs. They never see financials, inventory levels, or other workers' data.
GPS clock-in/out?
Yes. The Worker App stamps each clock-in and clock-out with the worker's location, so you can verify on-site presence. Workers know it's happening — disclosed in the app and in their onboarding.
Voice & AI
Voice notes — does it work in the barn?
Yes, offline. Speech-to-text runs locally where supported and syncs the transcribed text when you reconnect. We've optimized for the kinds of background noise farms actually have.
Is the AI included?
Smart tools — pest/disease detection, yield forecasting, profit recommendations — are coming in v2.0 as the AI Pack. Early access for paid subscribers will be free during the beta.
Co-ops
Can I join with neighboring farms?
The Co-op Pack (v1.0, shipping shortly after Livestock) introduces farmer co-op groups, bulk purchasing, shared inventory, and pooled resources. If your county already has a co-op, the goal is for the software to work with that structure rather than replace it.
Security
Is my account secure?
Authentication runs through Supabase. Row-Level Security policies isolate every farm's data at the database layer — even a bug in the app can't leak your data to another farm.
Two-factor auth?
On the roadmap, prioritized after the current livestock features stabilize.
